Reviews Review by: Rori O'Keeffe on July 26, 2013 : It is a story that hurtles to a crushing finale - as memorable a short piece as I am likely to read. Review by: Steph Anne on July 26, 2013 : From the first sentence you are thrust directly in the middle of a tense, pain filled scene. You think, wait? Did I miss a page? What's going on? I kept reading because the raw emotion of the dialogue grabs you and won't let go. By the end, that comes quickly, you understand. Worth the read.

MOVIE REVIEW: THE WOLVERINE & OBLIVION & THE CONJURING

So I haven't posted about any movies lately and I just wanted to catch you up on what I've seen so far. So I've been busy trying to watch as many movies as I can since I have the time. So without any more ranting lets get to it first up" THE WOLVERINE: The word awesome doesn't even begin to let you know how much I actually loved this movie. Being someone who was into comics when she was younger and then watched the X-Men cartoon in whatever style if was animated in was a huge part of my early life.  The Wolverine fines our beloved hot tempered mutant Wolverine held up in the woods avoiding the world. This kinda picks up where Jean dies, because seemingly he is trying to escape this memories from the last X-Men movie. Logan is having a hard time dealing with the death of Jean and is seemingly punishing himself. Out in the woods he shares his territory with a huge bear who eventually gets killed, which drives him to go to town, where he meets Yukio and this

SHORT STORY PROMO: ETERNALLY DEPARTED BY STEPH ANNE

So here is a new one for you guys that I literally just finished reading. Eternally Departed by Steph Anne is a different kind of vampire romance that leaves you going, now this is a story I can sink my teeth into. I know I'm cheesy, this story is worth the read. It's FREE on Smashwords.com and when say it's good, it's good. The main character Dustin is dealing with a lost, that has him totally alienating everyone around him. Grieving over the woman he loves leads him to a support group meeting for people like himself where he meets Jo who is mysterious and dealing with a lost of her own.  After meeting Jo things get really interesting and that is where the story picks up. The language that the author uses to express Dustin's grief gives the the character a life of its own. You feel for him and the relate to him over the situation that took him to this place. The story is very descriptive and I loved the fact that he isn't at all like the stereotypical

SHORT STORY REVIEW: RUSTY FISCHER'S THE WEREWOLF ON CHRISTMAS

Another great read FREE by author Rusty Fischer. The Werewolf on Christmas was very entertaining and descriptive. Attacked by a werewolf and now a danger to those around him including his family. Jace is placed in this government facility that can be literally described as a person to save him from himself. Separated from his family Jace has to deal with the being a lone, being harassed by the muscle head security. With a little Christmas gift from his sister,  Jace has the chance to escape all this, but will he take that chance and possible unlace the mindless animal that lives inside. WORLD WAR Z: MOVIE REVIEW

Crazy, fast, hungry, infectious are just some of the words you can use to describe the zombies in Brad Pitt's new movie, World War Z. Yes we are all use to the zombies we've seen on Night of the Living Dead or The Walking Dead, but these zombies are a whole new thing. First of all all of the world has gone to hell in a handbag to say the less. Philadelphia, New York, Newark;  well Newark was always hell so no lose there sorry Jersey. But these zombies unlike ones in other movies over ran most of the earth in a matter of days. No one knows where it started or who patient zero is, but what they do know is if they don't find a cure humanity is lost. Now where every Brad Pitt's character Gerry is, is where I want to be and don't want to be. Sure the guy is the only one that can get you out of everything alive, but for some reason even being around him is a risk in this movie. You literally have to think whether you want to run for the rest of your life and try to f

DRINKING & DRAWING AT MARY O'S

Artist Sara Woolley and Khary Randolph  So fun time yesterday when I finally got the chance to attend Drink & Draw at Mary O's, hosted by none other than amazing comic book artist himself Khary Randolph. After accepting every event invitation the  group on Facebook sent me and never showing up; I was finally able to attend one of the monthly gathering of this group of awesome illustrators and artist. The event which welcomes all artist is hosted every second Wednesday of each month (unless it changes). Most of the artist there gather to socialize with others within their field and to also draw some amazing art. Like artist, Khary Randolph, Sara Woolley, N Steven Harris, and Javier Cruz Winnik, who I meet last year at Comic Con. He and I were the first ones at Mary O's and I got a chance to see what he was working on and it was an amazing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles piece. Mind you being a huge Turtles fan it got 1 1/2 thumbs up from me. Why 1 1/2 thumbs you ask, wel

SHORT STORY REVIEW: RUSTY FISCHER'S ZOMBIE THANKSGIVING

Extended Description: It’s Thanksgiving and all Cassie wants to do is sit in her dorm room eating cheesy poofs and binge watching a Horror High marathon on HitFlix. That’s when Rex, one of the members of the Zombie Job Corps, shows up, wanting to clean her floor. With nothing better to do, Cassie helps him… and finds a friend for Thanksgiving break. And just in time, too, seeing as a zombie outbreak is starting and Cassie has to decide which side to fight for: the good zombies… or the bad! Once while venturing through SmashworDs YA books, I found this amazing FREE short story, Zombie Thanksgiving by Rusty Fischer. First of all I have to say the story is well written and well paced. I thought it was going one way and then it took a left turn and that's when it gets good. Cassie seems to be the girl that I was in college which was somewhat of an out case. She doesn't think guys think of her as normal and through the story I thought well you aren't.  Cassie meets Re

SHORT STORY REVIEW: CAPTURED TO BE A VAMPIRE PRINCE'S BRIDE

Captured to Become Vampire Prince's Bride is a title that would intrigue anyone and it did with me. Besides the fact that it's FREE! When I saw the title a lone I wanted to read it right away, but I was disappointed at how short it was even though it is a short story. Arianne and her friend Selena find themselves in the park way after they should be. The park attendants are gone and there is no one around. Selena tells Arianne that they should head back since the park isn't safe at night, and she was right. Sinister eyes watch the girls every move and when Arianne finally feels the danger, it is too late. Taken by two strange men what will happen to the girls? Will they survive or will they lose their lives? This is a great short story by Jessica Martins, that can be expanded upon. I love the visuals that the writer uses to describe the sinister characters, and what happens to the two girls when everything goes wrong. The only problem I had with the story wa

REVIEW: ABRAHAM LINCOLN VAMPIRE HUNTER

So I saw this movie last year and realize after going through my post that I did not review this movie or say anything about it. Well I watched it again on HBO and it was as good as the first time I saw it. Sure it's about one of Americas greatest president being a vampire slayer that's what attracted me to watching it.  I love the take on how this movie portrays such a great and iconic American and a hard time in our nations history and place it a long the whole vampire phenomenon that we're currently going through not only in our writing, but also in movies. It is a great take on what really pushed Lincoln to become the man that went on to lead the nation into a civil war, not just for the freedom of a people, but to save our asses from being vampire food. The fight scenes are awesome. The way Benjamin Walker handles an axe you would think that he'd been doing it all his life. The graphics are great and the vampires takes us back to the traditional vampires i
