MOVIE REVIEW: THE WOLVERINE & OBLIVION & THE CONJURING

So I haven't posted about any movies lately and I just wanted to catch you up on what I've seen so far. So I've been busy trying to watch as many movies as I can since I have the time. So without any more ranting lets get to it first up"

THE WOLVERINE: The word awesome doesn't even begin to let you know how much I actually loved this movie. Being someone who was into comics when she was younger and then watched the X-Men cartoon in whatever style if was animated in was a huge part of my early life. 

The Wolverine fines our beloved hot tempered mutant Wolverine held up in the woods avoiding the world. This kinda picks up where Jean dies, because seemingly he is trying to escape this memories from the last X-Men movie. Logan is having a hard time dealing with the death of Jean and is seemingly punishing himself. Out in the woods he shares his territory with a huge bear who eventually gets killed, which drives him to go to town, where he meets Yukio and this is were the movie really begins. Yukio convinces Logan to go back to Japan with her as part of an old man's dying wish. This old man turns out to be a Japanese soldier Logan had save back in WWII. The old man dies and Logan is then pulled into a battle to save the old man's granddaughter's Mariko life but also his own.

The fight scenes were great. Fighting on top of a moving train while all the time avoiding being knocked off by the signs that littered the air over head was something to behold. The major fight scenes between Wolverine and the Silver Samurai, was great but was totally beat out by the fight between Yukio and Viper.

All in all The Wolverine was a great was for me. Make sure to stay till the end of the credits for a little surprise. The Wolverine gets an 8 out of 10.

Next up is a move that I heard everyone talking about when it first came out and the talk wasn't good. I decided to check the movie out for myself and I was happy I did. Let me pose a question to you: Would you give up your life to save what little of humanity there is left?  

OBLIVION: This movie came out early this year and had great cast behind it consisting as Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman. The movie takes place in the distant future. Mankind had been devastated by war with hostile alien forces and have supposedly moved off planet to Titan. Cruises character  Jack works as repair tech for the machines left on planet earth that pumps up the oceans water for those living on Titan. Jack is fascinated with what life was like on earth. 

After being on the planet for sometime Jack starts to have dreams of a woman that he cannot shake and he starts to think that he is starting to remember things from his past. Apparently to get his job he and his partner had to have their memories wiped. When one of the pumps goes down from and outside attack Jack goes to investigate only to find the woman of his dreams who turns out to be his wife and then captured by Morgan Freeman's character Beech. He learns the truth about what really happens to planet Earth and now has to decided whether to believe it or not.

Loved this move because it made you think. One because you never know how you enemies really are and because it's hard to deal with life's truth when its staring you in the face. This movie to me had a lot of good scenes and Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman delivered really good performances. The future tech that Cruise character gets to play with were great especially the airship.

Oblivion gets a 9 out of 10 because I like sci-fi movies that just doesn't entertain me, but also makes me think about the bigger picture.

THE CONJURING: Now this is one of those movies that you need to see with a group of people and when you get home throw out and old dolls you might have. Based on true happenings. The Conjuring tells the story of how Lorraine and Ed Warren save the Perron family from and evil that was infesting their home.

This movie was scary to say the less. There were scenes were I could not look and readily put my fingers over my eyes when I though something was going to jump out and scary the hell out of me. There was one scene with the police officer played by John Brotherton where a spirit comes out at him and I am telling you I was not prepare and almost jumped into my friends lap. This movie is by far the scariest movie that has been released this year.

Lili Taylor's performance as the terrified mother and then vessel to the evil spirit was nothing but amazing. The way her character changes the whole movie has you going "oh no". The exorcism scene alone had me going am I really watching this in the dark? I really don't know if ghost exist or anything like that but I know for a fact that this movie had me turning on all the lights when I got home. The Conjuring it a must see.

The Conjuring gets 8 out of 10.
